Week 2 review.
Game 1, at the Benson Centre, featured Cornwall Tire (0-1) vs. Wilson Funeral (1-0). Tied at 21 all going
into the last minutes of the 4th quarter, Wilson Funeral capitalized on a key turnover and deep pass from Tyler Nasr to win 44-21. Cornwall Tire
drove deep into Wilson Funerals territory numerous times in the 4th
quarter, but could never seem to punch it in. “Tough lost” quoted Coach Hickman as Cornwall Tire starts
the season 0-2.
Wilson Funeral, now 2-0, is leaning on great offensive play
by Tyson Lafave and Tyler Nasar.
Lafave scored 5 times and added defensively with one sack. Tyler Nasr threw for touchdowns and ran one in as well. He also
intercepted a ball late in the 4th quarter. Ryan
Bancroft added two sacks defensively.
For Cornwall Tire, Landon Hickmanhad a big night defensively sacking Nasar 4 times. He also had 1 TD. Hayden
Sylvester had the other 2 TD’s on the night. Defensively, Brady Nixon and Gabriel Skerget each had 1 INT.
Game 2, at the Benson Centre, showcased the two unbeaten
teams at the Bantam level; Longevity
(1-0) vs. Freedom 55 (1-0). Longevity’s Braxton Brown caused a fumble on the first play and recovered it in
the endzone for a TD. This would set the tempo as Longevity never looked back
winning 58-14. Longevity’s Tyler Ruhl,
Reeve Nicholson, Wanya Ellis, and Braxton Brown all scored one TD. Another
impressive performance by Justin Julien
and Ashton Thibeault both adding two TD’s each. Justin
Julien had two INT’s and 1 fumble recovery. Braxton Brown also had an INT. For Freedom 55, Justin Cloutier and Shane
Thompson scored once each. Jeremy
Malon had 1 INT.
Game 2, in Alexandria, featured 5th Wheel vs. Glengarry
Gaels. It was the Jakob Loucks and
Chris Milward show boosting 5th Wheel over Glengarry 58-7. Loucks connected with Milward for three majors and scrambled for two of
his own, while Travis Gaspe rumbled
into the end zone three times and contributed a sack for the safety touch. Matt Jones collected a McKenzie Dorn
toss for Glengarry's sole major.
Game 3, in Alexandria, was between unbeaten LKQ (1-0) and Glengarry Gaels (0-0). Gaels awarded
the win with 21-14 final score, as a very tight, exciting encounter was called
on account of injury. Glengarry QB Taylor
Drummond, who had just run in his team's third major, suffered a broken leg
on the play, as he was tackled just in the end zone.
